RESEARCH

We collaborate extensively with researchers across various disciplines and institutions for our research work. The strength of this approach allows us to combine research results that will have farther reaching benefits as we continue to understand more about Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASDs).Through our research projects, our goals are to:

  • Uncover the different environmental and genetic factors that may contribute to the development of an ASD;
  • Identify subgroups of ASDs based on similarities and differences in individuals and family members;
  • Develop methods for earlier and easier identification of an ASD;
  • Identify and develop better treatment options for people with an ASD; and
  • Develop better support systems for persons with ASDs and their family members based on what they tell us are needed.

 The full range of research projects under ASD-CARC includes the Identification of Genetic and Environmental Factors affecting Susceptibility to ASDs; Neurophysiological Studies on ASDs; Developmental Trajectory of ASDs Throughout the Lifespan; Studies on Communication in Individuals with ASDs; and Epidemiology of ASDs.
