Post-Doctoral Fellowships Available

The Autism Research Program at Queen’s University currently has three postdoctoral fellowship positions available for individuals who are creative and energetic and interested in a career in the field of Autism Spectrum Disorders. Successful individuals will be part of the Autism Spectrum Disorders – Canadian-American Research Consortium (www.AutismResearch.com) and the CIHR/NAAR Strategic Training Program in ASDs (www.AutismTraining.ca). 1. Postdoctoral Position in Molecular Genetics Laboratory
A postdoctoral fellowship position to study the molecular biology and genetics of autism is available with the Autism Research Program at Queen’s University. We are searching for a PhD in molecular biology, genetic epidemiology, statistical genetics or a related field to conduct gene mapping and identification studies in autism in a state-of-the-art research environment in collaboration with faculty and other postdoctoral fellows.

A strong background in molecular biology and genetics, with a good publication record, as well as knowledge of bioinformatics, is required.

The candidate will be expected to lead a research project, provide technical support to technicians, conduct data analysis and/or methodological development, and prepare manuscripts. A suitably qualified applicant will have a PhD in molecular genetics with good statistical genetics, or genetic epidemiology experience. Familiarity with standard statistical software and genetic analysis packages is preferred. The successful candidate is expected to have excellent writing skills.

2. Postdoctoral Position in Psychology or Related Fields
A postdoctoral fellowship position to study the phenotype in individuals with autism spectrum disorders and family members is available with the Autism Research Program at Queen’s University. Through our novel Research Registry, families are invited to participate in a series of questionnaires, providing a rich data-set for subgrouping families with these conditions. We are searching for a PhD in psychology or a related field to develop new questionnaires and analyze data related to understanding the broader spectrum of ASDs in collaboration with faculty and other postdoctoral fellows.

A strong background in autism and statistic analysis, with a good publication record, is required. The successful candidate is expected to have excellent writing skills.

The candidate will be expected to supervise a research project, provide support to technicians, conduct data analysis, and prepare manuscripts.

3. Postdoctoral Position in Neurosciences
A postdoctoral fellowship position to study the neurophysiology of autism is available with the Autism Research Program at Queen’s University. The position involves traveling to families in Canada with our Mobile Laboratory, equipped with equipment for eye-tracking, ERPs, communication studies and 3D facial imaging. We are searching for a PhD in Neurosciences or a related field to carry out this research in collaboration with faculty and other postdoctoral fellows. The applicant must be willing to travel with the Mobile Laboratory for extended periods of 1-2 or more weeks, but will be based in Kingston, Ontario.

A strong background in neurosciences, with experience in eye-tracking or ERPs, and data analysis, and a good publication record, is required. The successful candidate is expected to have excellent writing skills.

The candidate will be expected to supervise a research project, provide technical support to technicians, collect data and conduct data analysis, and prepare manuscripts.
